Hey y'all. In case you've not noticed Silo have been in hibernation all winter and are due to emerge from the cave as just as soon as the spring cleaning is done...

In the midst of the spring cleaning effort we stumbled accross some amateur looking pics taken on the Garbage Tour... which was heaps of fun by the way.. take a look.

We're currently working on a new set of songs and hope to gig and record them in the near future. We'll keep ya posted.

OOHOOHH THE ENDLESS SEA..... 2005-11-10 00:00:00

Whether they name themselves after the last track on Iggy's New Values record (featured in a very haunting scene in the aussie flick Dogs In Space) or not, we don't know... but this Friday night the 11th of November we're joining Jen Cloher and her band The Endless Sea at the Hopetoun Hotel in Surry Hills.

By the gorgeous sounds we've been hearing off their new record, their set will no doubt be just as haunting and beatiful and a whole lot of fun. For anyone who's not see Jen in action yet, she is an awesome performer & song-writer, ex-panel van driver & basically a top lady. So come join us:

Friday, November 11.

Down Hills Home, Silo, & Jen Cloher & the Endless Sea (Melb)

Hopetoun Hotel, Bourke St, Surry Hills

Silo on stage 9.30pm.

Also our spring collection of tees proved popular among audiences on the Garbage tour and so will be on sale at the Hoey this Friday too. Available in sizes 8 to XL they come in two hues - "Fire Engine" Red and "Ooops Too Late" Charcoal. Anyone of the male gender feeling aprehensive about wearing a tee that has butterflies on it, I challenge you to test our theory that girls dig a guy who's not scared to wear a butterfly tee shirt.

Way, Sophie & Scott

Silo are now seeking a committed drummer for future gigs, tours and recording...

In the mean time thanks to Graham Peabody who did a cracker of a job filling in on drums for us at Spectrum on Sunday night and thanks to Peabody for lending him to us

DEAR FRIENDS OF SILO - A CALL TO ARMS! 2005-06-09 00:13:00

Well friends, the time has come. Our debut EP "Ice Queen" has been in shops for about a week now, and our marketing juggernaut is slowly picking up pace. Favorable reviews have been published, and we are getting national radio airplay. With all this momentum it seems a forgone conclusion that we will be embarking on......

Starting on Thursday the 16th of June, we kick it off at the Hopetoun Hotel in Surry Hills, Sydney. And we are headlining! (supports to be announced soon) We will be hitting the stage around 10pm, but get there early to check out the whole rock and roll show!

The following week we head off to sunny picturesque Brisbane, to rock-it, old school style, with our good friends The Mean Streaks, at Rics Cafe on Friday the 24th of June.

And then to top it all off TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW in Melbourne. Starting on Friday the 1st of July at The Espy Hotel in St Kilda, supporting 67 Special, and then Saturday night at The Ding Dong Lounge, supporting The Cops and Cannon.

So please please please join us, and help us celebrate the most exciting event of our rock career to date. Its been a long time coming, and we are all really proud of our debut EP, which, by the way, can be purchased from us on the night!t!

So please join us at any of our upcoming gigs. Or, if you are so inclined, COME TO ALL OF THEM!

Warmest regards

STRAIGHT TO THE YOOF! 2005-05-25 00:09:52

Thanks to our resident Media Assassins our new EP, Ice Queen, made it into the hands of the powers that be at JJJ, and the choice cut "Never In-Between" was subsequently broadcast around 10pm on Monday night during the Home and Hosed program with Robbie Buck.

Dont belive us? Listen here! (about 1:15:00 in)

Impressed? We were! Want to tell everyone how great we are? Start here! And make sure to tune into to Home and Hosed every weeknight from 9-11pm, and maybe, just maybe, you will hear us again.

And hell, why dont we push the friendship one step further. While you are there, you could even request to hear SILO during a more godly hour on Super Request.

And if anyone else deems our EP fit to play on the airwaves, we will let you know.

IT WASNT US, REALLY! 2005-05-19 00:10:20

Hello friends of SILO

A recent guestbook entry alerted us to the fact that some of you may have been under the impression that we played a gig in Melbourne at the Pony Club last Saturday night.

We are not planning on coming to Melbourne till mid July, so the band calling themselves Silo that played last weekend wasn't us but some other band. (Unless they were really really good, in which case, it was us ;)

Stay tuned for official SILO touring dates in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in the coming weeks.

Hello Friends of SILO

Start saving your pennys people because, we can put it off no longer.. as of
May 30th... THIS YEAR you will finally be able to purchase a copy of our
very first release ever brought to you by the excellent people at
In-Fidelity! So be ready to march into your local record store and get your
copy of our debut EP - Ice Queen. And if they don't have it in stock..
demand that they get on the phone to Shock and bloody well order it for

You should know the songs and be ready to sing along (or air drum if that's
your thing) by the time the official launch tour comes around mid June -
early July. Dates still to be confirmed. Until then get your copy, stuff
it in your cd player and hit repeat.

In honour of our imminent debut release we have decided to celebrate by
updating the website.

The "pics" link in the menu to the left now works. Marvel at SILO's
official press photos! Gasp at the raw honesty of our recording photos!
Take a trip down memory lane as you view photos from many of our
illustrious live gigs!

And to top it all off, we give you a sample high fidelity MP3 of the title
track off our EP, ICE QUEEN!

And finally, the SILO merch juggernaut is starting to pick up speed.

range of button badges at SILO shows and here on the website.

And thanks for sticking around to the end of this news item.

A NEW GIG AND OTHER UPDATES! 2005-04-05 23:08:39

As you can see from our previous news post we played a gig in Melbourne.
We rocked it, (and so did our new friends The Mean Streaks from QLD, and
the bar staff loved us ;) Unfortunately it wasn't the "showcase" we were
expecting but it was fun to hang out in Melbourne once again, and we are
planning to return there late June in support of our forthcoming EP!

In other news we got reviewed! And favourably this time!

SOMEONE LIKES US! 2003-11-19 18:58:32

Hey gang

Our new best friends at YEN Magazine have written a delightful article about girls in rock, and have profiled SILO! Nice to see someone NOT rehash the press release ;)

"With their frenetic and crunchy guitar driven sound, Sydney band SILO have emerged as one of the brightest acts on the local scene. Their sound is raw and aggressive, spliced with all the requisite pop hooks and refusing to wallow in superficial angst. The three piece, led by charismatic duo Sophie Hyde (bass and vocals) and Wayan Norris (guitar) and backed up by Martin Crouch on drums, have recently signed a deal with new Melbourne label In-Fidelity. SILO plan to shortly begin recording with high profile producer Lindsay Gravina at Birdland Studios, before undertaking a tour of Melbourne and Brisbane. It's been a rapid rise for the group, but one which they are more than equipped to handle."

Good to see the token male get a mention also. Get the mag and check out the illustration. Thats me! In the back! With the plant over my face!

Hello Peeps

Welcome back to SILOROCK.COM!

Sorry for being away, but I moved the server out of the office and to a secret location in the Arizona desert (I am not making this up). So we should stay on the air more consistently.

Not much else to tell you. The guestbook is working, but all previous entries have been archived. I will be putting them back at some point.

We dont have any gigs coming up at the moment, but we are still practicing hard and writing new songs n stuff.

The gig at the Manning Bar went very well. We always enjoy playing with our good friends The Mess Hall.

YIPPEE!!! Our First Contractual Obligation! 2003-08-22 16:49:53

Our record company, Infidelity Records, has made good their promise to record an EP with us. So, as from Saturday morning at 6am!! all of SILO will be making the jaunt down to sunny Melbourne for 9 days of rock'n'roll history making. We are booked in to record at Birdland Studios with our soon to be good friend Lindsay Gravina.

Dont know when the final product will be available to the masses. I'm sure there is something in the record contract about this. Maybe I should have read all of it, not just the good bits. Anyway, we will be sure to tell you when its done!

In other SILO news, we will be playing a gig the week we get back from Melbourne on Friday the 5th of September at The Bat and Ball in Surry Hills, Sydney, with Nunchukka Superfly and Pure Evil!

Be sure to catch this gig as it will come off the back of about 5 days constant practicing, so it should be good. Either that or we will just play 5 songs, over and over and over.
